Daniel's
Den Playground is proof that anything can be accomplished when people
work together! This collaboration is part of something revolutionary, a
new way of thinking that will be remembered not only for the playground
but for what this playground represents... true community development!
In addition, Daniel's Den Playground encourages positive action to
change rather than focusing on needs and problems. Acknowledging community
weaknesses and strengths is important, but attention should be given to
using available assets and opportunities to support and sustain community
development rather than using a deficits-based approach.
Lastly, Daniel's Den Playground generates a sense of ownership and
enhanced community capacity for others. A special thank you to those who
adopt this positive approach model to encapsulate our work not as individuals,
but as a community.
Daniel's
Den Poem:
Spring Up, O Daniel's Den this week
It was you O Lord our face did seek
The diligent committee uncovered every stone
For this could not be done by a man alone.
Youth, men and women came from far and near
Bringing their every talent and good cheer
They brought equipment large and small
Along with levels, hammers, shovels and saws.
You gave us near perfect weather seven days
To you alone we bring our praise
We had great fellowship, drinks and food
The work was hard, but we went away renewed
Now here we are a week away
The rains are back, and some dreary days
But that's just fine, we had our fun.
We all worked hard, the works about done.
We dedicate this playground to you today
May all who come your love display
For the sake of children that Jesus loves
Please protect this place from your throne above.
